Welcome to the Ending Offending-Our Message Website. Northern Territory Correctional Services (NTCS) through the Ending Offending-Our Message program has developed an integrated and holistic response to addressing offending behaviour. The program combines aspects of reparation to the community with rehabilitation programs and accredited vocational education and training. This site not only showcases the art and music produced by prisoners engaged in the program but also aims to keep the community informed of developments in community projects and public health initiatives undertaken by NTCS.

NTCS delivers therapeutic programs and accredited vocational education and training to equip prisoners with skills and knowledge appropriate to social, recreational, employment and economic opportunities available in their home communities. This facilitates an increase in the skill base crucial to fostering development in remote and regional areas. Prisoners involved in "Our Message" are obliged to make their time in custody a positive engagement in both considering the choices they made that resulted in their conviction as well as acquiring skills that will enable them to make more socially appropriate choices in future.

This initiative is also designed to ensure that those individuals sentenced to more substantial terms of imprisonment are meaningfully engaged in activities that provide reparation to society. During the past year a number of non-profit community organisations have benefited directly from this program, including; N.T Council of Churches and Victims of Crime Assistance League (V.O.C.A.L)

The 'Our Message' program has already received a number of awards that give recognition to the innovation and success of this response to criminal behaviour. To date the "Our Message" website has received the following awards; Certificate of Excellence in Information Technology (Open Learning Australia) Certificate of Merit (Australian Violence Prevention Awards) Certificate of Merit (N.T Vocational Awards)

Community involvement in addressing the causes and consequences of crime is fundamental to the success of this initiative. Please contact us with any suggestions and responses you may have. If you wish to be advised of further updates regarding the project please sign the guest book.
